Suspect charged in fatal stabbing death in Mount Vernon

A stabbing victim was found dead at a North Mulberry Street home and a suspect has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder, according to Mount Vernon Police Chief Robert Morgan. The incident occurred on Oct. 26th.

Chad R. Taylor, 44, was arrested by Mount Vernon Police officers at approximately 6:43 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of West High Street where the initial 911 call was made. He was taken to the Knox County Jail and was being held without bond.

The 911 call was received at approximately 3:25 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, with a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 700 block of North Mulberry. Upon their arrival, officers entered the home and found the deceased victim. No other persons were in the residence.

Mount Vernon Police detectives and investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) were called to the crime scene.

More information will be released as the investigation continues as appropriate, Morgan said in his press release. The victim's name is being withheld at this time in accordance with the wishes of the victim’s family and the provisions of Ohio’s Marsy’s Law.
