William A. Mustaine, age 84, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born on October 29, 1938, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, and raised in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late William and Helen (Buller) Mustaine. 

Bill graduated from Ohio University with a degree in education and a master’s degree from University of Toledo and was a teacher and guidance counselor for over 39 years mostly in the Columbus City School system.  He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and Mount Vernon Lions Club, both in Mount Vernon. In his spare time Bill loved to fish, golf and watch old westerns. 

He is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Judith (Vitcha) Mustaine whom he married on August 20, 1966; sons, Todd (Manda) Mustaine, Matt (Bethany) Mustaine; grandchildren, Madelyn, Max, Averie, Baylor, Colbie, Demsey; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mustaine; and a nephew, Michael.

Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brother, John Mustaine. 

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
