J.R. Richardson, 76, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2023. He was born in Pryor Creek, Oklahoma on October 4, 1946 to the late Jack Walton and Mamie (Turner) Richardson. He was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
J.R. was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in Vietnam and beyond until he was honorably discharged in 1980. He loved spending time with his family and his pets. J.R. always made sure everyone he encountered was taken care of without hesitation.
Along with his parents, J.R. is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda; sisters, Kaye Leggett, Carla Birchfield, and Candy Meador; brother, J.W. Richardson.
J.R. is survived by his children, Rebecca (Shannon Green) Stevens and Keith Richardson; grandchildren, Bryan Holland, Danielle (Cole Williams) Holland, Kirsti Holland, Joseph Kodydek, Kaylee Richardson and Makenna Richardson; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Dee Bell.
In following with J.R.’s wish, there was not be any services. The family was have a private memorial at a later date at the AmVets.
