Bonita Mae Schafer, 81, of Marietta, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Bonnie was born August 24, 1941 in Marietta to Ira and Mildred Casto.
She was a 1959 graduate of Marietta High School.
She married Gary Schafer on June 3, 1962.
Bonnie was a bookkeeper for B F Goodrich, the family business - Schafer Super Service and later for Tender Equity Oil & Gas. She was an avid sports fan and a diehard Reds, Bengals, and The Ohio State Football fan. Bonnie and her lifelong neighborhood friends took turns hosting monthly bingo nights. Her love of bingo intensified when competing for chocolate at the O’Neill Center.
Bonnie was be deeply missed by her daughters Laurie (Rusty) Neader, Lynn (Jeff) Erb; grandchildren Jansen Mossack (Casey Tebay), Brett Neader, Jessie (Matthew) Fitzgerald, Brooke Neader (Carl Goodman), Jaelyn Erb, and Courtney Neader; great grandchildren Cali, Ari, Bexley, Valleigh, Dezmond; great niece and nephews Teddy, Katie and Andrew who only knew her as Grandma Bon Bon; brothers Jack Casto and Mike (Eloise) Casto; sister Julie (Mark) Bauer.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Gary and sister-in-law Priscilla Casto.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice staff for the care and compassion they provided to Bonnie and the family.
Friends may call Friday, August 25th from 12 to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services was followed at 2 p.m. Burial was followed at East Lawn Memorial Park. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Bonnie had a very special relationship with the staff at the O’Neill Day Center, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to them.
