Utica goes 1-1 last week against conference foes to finish regular season 10-12

Utica (10-12, 5-10) took on the Northridge Vikings (8-14, 4-11) on Oct. 10 and Emilee Ellis led the Redskins to a 3-1 win with a 14 assist performance.

Utica took a 25-22 win in the first set and 25-18 in set two, but the Vikings came back and won set three 25-23. The Redskins finished them off with a 25-16 win in set four to take the match.

Ellis led in the assist department with 14 assists and also had six kills and six digs. Alexa Gosnell had 10 kills, 12 assists, 14 digs, two aces and four blocks in the match. Lexi Wiegand recorded 22 digs and Callie Baker had 14 digs. Emma Kimpel added 10 digs. 

Utica then lost 3-0 to Licking Heights (11-11, 10-4) on Oct. 12 with scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-23. Hannah Shaver and Lauren Schmitt had four kills. Ellis recorded 10 digs and three aces, and Wiegand had seven digs. Gosnell had eight assists.

Next up for Utica is the first round of the Division III, Central 1 Section/District tournament. The No. 17 Redskins travel to Columbus Bishop Ready on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.
