At Stake: The Blue Devils and the Indians have been going opposite directions as the regular season nears its end. Danville looks to stay perfect and the KMAC rival Indians are trying to get back in the win column after five straight losses.
What to Watch:
The Blue Devils have outscored opponents 400-113 during their eight game winning streak, and are coming off a 52-22 win over a solid Centerburg squad.
Danville is led by the senior duo of Cole Delaughder and Walker Weckesser. Delaughder is coming off a four touchdown performance where he tallied 183 yards. He currently leads KMAC in rushing touchdowns and yards, and is averaging more than eight yards per carry.
Weckesser is a double threat throwing and passing. Last week he had 115 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground, and was also 5-for-9 passing. On the season he is averaging about 10 yards per carry.
The Blue Devils are defensively sound, as well, led by Jacob Hackman and Weckesser, who have four and three interceptions respectively. Bryer Boeshart leads the conference in sacks with eight and looks to get to the quarterback this week for pressure.
Mount Gilead has struggled this season as they are at the bottom of the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference and been outscored 174-90.
The Indians are coming off a tough 31-3 loss where the team had trouble moving the ball. Elliot Jones needs to get the running game going, as he was held to only 39 yards an 13 carries.
Quarterback Cole Fricke was 7-for-11 passing, but for only 34 yards and a pick. Logan High is a senior wide receiver to watch. Look for Fricke to try to move the ball downfield for the Indians to catch the Blue Devil defense off guard.
