Sweeps were the order of the weekend in OCC volleyball action.

Wooster 3, Mount Vernon 0

The Wooster Generals (4-0, 0-0) have been hot out of the gate with four straight wins to open the season, with Sara Snowbarger stepping up with 18 kills on August 31 with a convincing sweep over a tough Mount Vernon (6-2, 3-1) squad.

Wooster took the first set easily with a 25-14 win and the generals never let up with 25-16 and 25-17 wins in sets two and three.

Snowbarger led all players with 18 kills to go with two aces, a block and 17 digs. Bri Hewitt and Jillian Mann both set the ball well with 20 and 13 assists respectively. Megan Lantis had a solid night on defense with 18 digs, and also had six kills on offense. Wooster had 37 kills as a team.

Mount Vernon had 21 kills as a team and were led by Emma Dean and Kaitlyn Thompson who had six kills each. Dean added two aces, five blocks and four digs. Tori Burdette had 15 assists, nine digs, two blocks and four kills. Audrey Stuller was stepped up in a big way on defense with 33 digs in the match to lead the Yellow Jackets. Mount Vernon recorded 57 digs as a team.

Lexington 3, Mansfield Senior 0

Lexington (4-2, 2-2) rebounded off a loss and handed Mansfield Senior (0-6, 0-4) their sixth straight losing decision to start the season on August 31.

Lexington won in dominant fashion from the start with a 25-6 set one victory and a 25-2 win in set two. Set three was also all Lexington, who beat Mansfield Senior 25-10.

Ashland 3, Madison Comprehensive 0

Ashland (4-2, 2-2) dominated Madison Comprehensive (1-5, 1-3) in a sweep victory for the Arrows at home in an OCC matchup.

Ashland won first set 25-18, and while the Rams came back and made it close in set two, the Arrows held on for a 25-23 win. They finished off the Rams with a 25-17 set three win.

Cielo Jacobus led Madison Comprehensive in kills with seven on the day. The senior added four digs defensively. Maddie Berry was in charge of setting duties for the Rams with 17 assists. Olivia Barley led the team in kills with nine, with karsyn Blust following closely with eight digs. Grace Speelman had four aces and Kayla Putney recorded three blocks in the match for the Rams.

New Philadelphia 3, West Holmes 0

Sidney Vandall provided some fire power on offense for New Philadelphia (5-1, 4-0) with a match high 11 kills in a sweep victory over West Holmes (1-5, 0-4) in OCC action on August 31.

The Quakers beat the Knights 25-17 in the first set, and then followed with 25-14 and 25-19 wins in sets two and three.

Vandall tallied 11 kills to go with a block, an assist and six digs. Kallyn Perks had 15 assists and 12 digs for the Quakers. Ellie Mason added nine kills for New Philadelphia.

Statistics for West Holmes were not available at press time.
