NEWARK – Lovers of vintage glass handcrafted in Ohio will find an abundance of collectable table glass at the annual glass show and sale, set for June 15-17 at the Lou and Gib Reese Ice Arena, 935 Sharon Valley Road, Newark.

Additionally, those looking for bargains will find them in abundance at the glass flea market, planned for June 17. Both events are sponsored by Heisey Collectors of America.

The annual glass show and sale features national dealers selling fine, vintage, American-made glassware. While the show focuses on glass made in Newark by A.H. Heisey and Company between 1896 and 1957, it will also include glass from other manufacturers such as Cambridge, Fostoria, Fenton and more.

A special feature of this year’s glass show is an appearance by Tom Bredehoft, co-author with his late wife Neila of several books on glass. Their indispensable "Heisey Glass 1896-1957: Identification and Value Guide" is considered the Heisey "bible” by most collectors. It’s the book they turn to first when they want to identify a piece of Heisey glass.

Bredehoft will autograph his book and chat informally with Heisey enthusiasts 12:30-1:30 p.m. June 17 in the seminar area of the glass show. Copies of his book are available at the National Heisey Glass Museum in Newark and will be available at the glass show.

The show also includes a wide variety of creative table displays designed by individual Heisey Collectors of America members on the theme, Colors of Heisey, and informational seminars on Heisey glass June 16 and 17.

Premiere night tickets are $30 and are good June 15 and 16. Admission June 16 is $5. Admission for children 12 and under is free all three days. Admission is free for all June 17.

The event will run 4-7 p.m. June 15, noon-4 p.m. June 16 and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 17.

The glass flea market is free to all, 8 a.m.-noon June 17, at the Canal Market District, 36 East Canal St., Newark. Community members with glassware to sell are invited to bring a table and set up shop. There is no fee to participate.
