MOUNT VERNON – David “Dave the Tree Guy” Edward Williams, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday morning, April 3, 2023, at his home. He was born on Feb. 5, 1935, in Pickerelltown, to the late Millard and Charlotte (Morton) Williams.
David graduated from Columbus Linden McKinley High School. After graduating high school, David enlisted in the Army, serving from 1954 to 1959. Upon returning from the military, he continued his education at the Ohio State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in theology. David owned and operated a tree service in the Knox County area for many years and was an ordained Methodist minister.
David is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Goenne) Williams, whom he married on Jan. 31, 1978; daughters, Kristal, Karena and Katrinka; a son, Karl; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Pamela.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Mary.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council following the visitation. A private burial will take place at a later date.
