MOUNT VERNON – Verna Jean (Popham) Miller, 93, passed away on Feb. 15, 2023, at Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation.
Jean was a graduate of Amity High School and Mount Vernon Business School. She was employed at Timken Roller Bearing, American National Can and was a volunteer coordinator at Hospice of Knox County. She was a past member of the Nature Lovers Garden Club and always had beautiful flower beds around her home. Jean was also an avid animal lover and had many pets throughout her life.
She was born May 13, 1929, to Raymond and Reeva (Kirkpatrick) Popham in Fredericktown. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Cheryl) Cochran; three grandchildren, Brandi (Eric) Barringer of Guysville, Amanda Cochran of Mansfield and Clay (Kelly) Cochran of Centerburg; five great grandchildren, Alexis, Brenden, Eben, Avanelle and Kai. Also surviving are two brothers, Dallas Popham and John (Janice) Popham both of Fredericktown; her nieces, Heidi (Todd) Burns, Jeanna (Erick) Springer and nephews, Eric (Sue) Popham, James Popham, John (Kandi) Popham and Joe (Lori) Popham.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jill Cochran; her nephew, Thomas Popham and her great-niece, Emily Burns.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, her body was donated to The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown from 10 to 11 a.m. A service will follow, beginning at 11 a.m., with Rev. Susan Stevens officiating.
