FREDERICKTOWN – Nerma “Jean” Armstrong, 94, of Fredericktown passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon under the care of Capital City Hospice. She was born in Berlin Township, Knox County on April 22, 1928, to the late Chester and Thelma (Burger) Beal.
Jean was a member of the Palmyra Church of Christ. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking, bowling, camping at the lake, playing euchre and pinochle and farming with her late husband, Kenneth. Jean’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother.
Jean is survived by her children, Richard (Debbie) Armstrong, Bradley (Nancy) Armstrong, Gregory (Ruthann) Armstrong and Scott (Carla) Armstrong; 10 grandchildren, Shelly (Brent) Jackson, Rob (Jenny) Armstrong, Lance (Abby) Armstrong, Bryce Armstrong, Melissa (Colten) Gryba, Matthew (Isabel Smith-Bernstein) Armstrong, Alec Armstrong, Mason (Julia) Armstrong, Sam (Jessica) Armstrong and Tyson Armstrong; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Jackson, Morgan Armstrong, Aiden Armstrong, Josie Armstrong, Teddy Armstrong, Nicole Gryba, Avery Gryba and Beckham Armstrong; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Armstrong; a sister, Erma Showalter; and brothers, Earl Beal and Robert Beal.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Palmyra Church of Christ, 21184 Zolman Road, Fredericktown, with Evangelist Troy Northup officiating. Jean will be laid to rest beside her husband, Kenneth, in Owl Creek Cemetery, Ankenytown.
