Knox County Career Center students competed in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Region IV competition at the end of January.

KCCC students in the Computer Network Technology (CNT), CollegeU-Business (CLGU), Digital Media and Software Development (DMSD), and Pre-Professional Mentorship (PPM) programs competed against students from Delaware Hayes High School, Delaware Area Career Center, Highland High School and Tri-Rivers Career Center.

BPA is a career technical student organization that allows students to compete in various competitions in the areas of Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communications and Design, Management, Marketing and Communications, and Health Administration.

On Friday, Feb. 3, BPA State Qualifiers in Region IV were announced. KCCC had 33 students qualify for state in 28 events. The BPA State competition will be held on March 9 and 10 in Columbus.

The following students qualified to compete in the BPA State competition in March:

  • Kierstin Cox (CollegeU-Business) 2nd place in Personal Finance Management.
  • Trinity Smith (CollegeU-Business) 1st place in Fundamental Word Processing.
  • Christopher Cline (CollegeU-Business) 2nd place in Fundamental Word Processing.
  • Shelby Oswalt (Pre-Professional Mentorship) 1st place in Administrative Support Research Project Individual.
  • Madalyn Blakesley (Pre-Professional Mentorship) 2nd place in Business Law and Ethics.
  • Alex Brumenshenkel (Computer Network Technology) 1st place in Computer Network Technology.
  • Jeremy Risko (Computer Network Technology) 3rd place in PC Servicing & Troubleshooting.
  • Logan O’Brien (Computer Network Technology) 1st place in Server Admin Using Microsoft.
  • John Auker (Computer Network Technology) 2nd place in Server Admin Using Microsoft.
  • Nicholas Murphy (Computer Network Technology) 1st place in Network Administration Using CISCO.
  • Leo Myer (Computer Network Technology) 2nd place in Network Administration Using CISCO.
  • Hailey Sheppard (Computer Network Technology) 3rd place in Network Administration Using CISCO.
  • Aron Whited (Computer Network Technology) 1st place in Computer Security.
  • Alex Brumenshenkel, Braxton Hessel, and Hailey Sheppard (Computer Network Technology) 1st place in Network Design Team.
  • Jack Davis (Digital Media & Software Development) 2nd place in Fundamentals of Desktop Publishing.
