Gavin Posey, a Utica High School graduate and former Redskins football star, brought his success on the gridiron and in the classroom to the Eagles program.
Posey is a senior right tackle for Ashland University. He became the first player in program history to become a three-time Academic All-American on Dec. 20. Posey is a first-team NCAA Division II Academic All-American, and senior defensive tackle Nick Cone is on the second team for his first such honor, as revealed by the College Sports Communicators.
Posey previously was a two-time second-team Academic All-American. He graduated with a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average as an accounting major and earned a 3.89 GPA in post-grad classes. Posey is a four-year starter at right tackle and earned 2022 CSC Academic All-District, Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) first-team All-Super Region 1, and All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference first-team selections.
With Posey on the line, Ashland finished 2022 as Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions (with a 10-2 season record), with a loss in the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
Posey graduated from Utica High School in 2018.
