DANVILLE – Betty Lou (Strouse) Durbin, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at her residence after a brief, unexpected illness.

She was born March 26, 1940, in Danville where she lived with her late parents, Therman W. and Helen L. (Wilson) Strouse. She married Frederick J. Durbin on April 8, 1961, who preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2001.

Betty spent most of her years as a waitress in Danville, and continued to work one day a week at Young’s Locker in Danville up until her death. She was a member of the Danville Church of Christ.

She is survived by her four children, William J. Durbin of Danville, Laura (Larry) Payne of Danville, Brenda Pugh of Newark, and Todd (Tina) Durbin of Danville; three stepchildren, Kristine (Thomas) Pappas of Mount Vernon, Lesley (Jason) Kalb of Toledo, and Frederick G. Durbin of Mount Vernon. She had 14 grandchildren, and 20-plus great grandchildren. She had one sister, Brenda (Dale) Davis of Warsaw, and three brothers, Woody (Sue) Strouse of Danville, Roy (Debra) Strouse of South Carolina and Mitch Strouse of Danville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Chris Pugh; three brothers-in-law, Bud Koelbl, John Durbin and Steve Durbin; and a sister-in-law, Lucy Koelbl.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Jason Hankinson officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, Dec. 16, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visit www.FischerFuneralHome.com.
