Ohio sees online job postings jump by 8,500

The number of Ohio job listings posted online increased by 8,503 ads from Sep. 14 through Oct. 13.

According to a release from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, a total of 69,433 job openings were posted online to the Central Ohio Online network during the month-long period, representing an increase of 8,503 ads from the previous reporting period and an increase of 15,973 ads compared to the same period of the prior year.

The numbers represent job ads listed for Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Knox, Licking, Logan, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union counties. 

More than half of all job offerings are within the median salary range. The upper middle-income job category is the most extensive salary range represented by all job ads, with 27.7% of job ads offering salaries of $50,000 to $79,000 annually. In second place was the middle-income jobs category, with 23.8% of job ads offering salaries of $30,000 to $49,000 annually. Entry Level jobs make up 13.7% of all job offerings.

Top skills in demand are customer service, listed on 13,523 job ads, operations on 10,418 job ads, and scheduling on 9,329 job ads.

According to the release, the three occupations with the highest number of local job ads were heavy and tractor-trailer truck driver with 3,305 job ads, registered nurses with 2,742 job ads and software developer with 2,369 job ads.

The top three employers with the most local job ads were Nationwide Children's Hospital with 2,257 job ads; Amazon with 1,730 job ads and JP Morgan Chase & Co. with 1,279 job ads.
