Knox County Pomona Grange met on Monday, Oct. 17, at Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange. Master Lonnie Totten called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. There were 20 members and one guest present.
Legislative Chairperson Sue Roy reported that Margaret Ann Ruhl and she did three new podcasts on Buckeye Patrons Pulse Podcast on women's voting rights and that in the grange, women have had the right to vote since the grange was formed. Ruhl and Roy also talked about Issue 1 and Issue 2 that were on the November ballot and what they entail.
Family Activities chairperson Mary Jewell reported that the Ohio State Grange convention was Oct. 28 through Oct. 30. All the crafts and photos were loaded into Cindy Campbell's vehicle to take there for judging.
Youth chairperson Bruce Roy; Membership chairperson Etta Arnholt and Deaf chairperson Janet White all had no report at this time. Community Service chairperson Sue Roy asked if there were any ideas for community service, to bring them to her.
Morgan Grange made more blankets and pillow cases for the cancer patients. Every granger should have received their September/October grange magazine. On the last page, if you want to receive the magazine in paper form, complete that page and return to the Ohio State Grange with your $5. Remember, the Farm-City dinner will be in April again next year. Be thinking of programs and Campbell will see if the Ramser 4-H Center is available again this next year. Campbell had a meeting with all of the subordinate grange masters to work on the calendar for next year. There are little changes from this year. Reminder that the National Grange Convention is at Sparks, Nevada, and will have most of the convention live-streamed. This will include the talent contest that Cindy Campbell is doing a reading of "The Dash." Good luck from all of us.
New Business was an application from Deb Hamilton to join as an affiliate of Knox County Pomona Grange. Hamilton's dues are paid with this application. All voted yes to accept this application.
State Master Sue Roy announced that the National Grange building has been sold. More details as she receives it. Blendon Grange has closed and is transferring their membership to Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange. This brings eight new members with the transfer. Cathy Morey, Connie Powell and Denise Barton were installed officers of Ceres, Chaplin and Gatekeeper, since they were not at the last meeting.
Lecturer's program was presented by Willis Smith. Did you know National Pasta Day passed recently? Smith read the history of pasta and how the sauces were started. Bingo would be played after the meeting with additional prizes.
For the Good of the Order, we recognized Bruce and Sue Roy for 37 years of marriage, which will be on Oct. 31. We welcomed David Morey back from all of his surgeries, from his teeth removal to heart surgery. Morey said he was doing well except now his foot hurts.
Next meeting was Nov. 21, at Morgan Grange. That report is coming soon.
