NEWARK – James Arthur Rice, 92, of Newark passed away on Sept. 22, 2022, at Adams Lane Care Center. James was born on June 27, 1930, to the late Arthur H. and Vera M. “Schwartzenberger” Rice.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. James was a member of the Masonic Lodge #291, the American Legion #92, Maennerchor in Newark, Aladdin Shriner, and the Association of Ohio Long Rifle Collectors.
James is survived by his loving children, Janet, Douglas and Gail Rice; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Fred (Christine) Rice; and sister, Mary (David) Robinson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lavaun L. Rice; brothers, Robert, Bill and Richard Rice; and sisters, Sharon Hrabe and Eileen (Wayne) Beever.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 29, from 12-2 p.m. at the Law-Baker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, at 2:45 p.m. with Pastor Rocky Smith officiating, in Wilson Cemetery.
