MOUNT VERNON – Rebecca "Becky" Jo Walton Baldwin, 73, of Beaufort, S.C., died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022.
Becky was born April 25, 1949, in Mount Vernon. She was the daughter of the late Virginia Wise Walton. She graduated from Mount Vernon senior High School in 1967. After working many different jobs throughout her life and raising three kids, she went back to school and became an educator. She taught at Robert Smalls Middle School and Laurel Bay Schools until her retirement.
Becky was predeceased by her husband, Steve Baldwin, in 2020. Surviving are two sons, Jay Neese and Chad Baldwin; one daughter, Andrea Riley (Keith); four sisters, Paula Walton, Jeannie Beach, Peggy Lamb and Barbie Newton; and seven grandchildren, Logan, Bricen and Rush Riley, Jack Vogelsang, Maddie, Aya and O'Wren Neese.
A visitation will take place at Anderson Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 5-7 p.m. The funeral will be held at The Parish Church of St. Helena on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 10:30 a.m. with internment immediately following at Beaufort National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) at PO Box 531, Beaufort, SC 29901. Becky was a very proud volunteer at CAPA for many years.
