MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Natural Resource Area was a hit during the recently sponsored Archery Tribute Shoot.

This event was held at the newly opened Archery Range at 700 Perimeter Drive, adjacent to the Ramser 4-H Activity Center on the Knox County Fairgrounds.

The shoot was hosted on Sept. 11 in remembrance of the tragedy of 9/11. Kids and adults sported various archery skills during the shoot while some learned the fundamentals. The Knox County Natural Resource Area partners represented the event by offering instruction. The partners included the Knox County Fish and Game Association, Knox County Pheasants Forever Chapter #616, OSU Extension-Knox County, Knox County Park District, Knox Soil and Water Conservation District, Helser Woodland Management, Danville Outdoors, Brown Family Environmental Center, Peer Family Forestry Consulting, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife.

The archery range is open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Read posted range rules before utilizing the facility.

The Knox County Natural Area Resource committee will host a “Trunk or Treat/Pumpkin Shoot” on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 5-7 p.m. For more information, contact Emilee Hardesty at 614-314-1315.
