Mansfield’s Fantastic Final Friday Weekend celebration

On Aug. 26 through Aug. 28, Mansfield, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the festivities of the Mansfield’s Fantastic Final Friday Weekend featuring classic cars, vintage planes and live music.

According to a press release, the weekend-long celebration kicks off on Friday, Aug. 26 with The Final Friday live concert at the Brickyard featuring country artists taking the stage at 5:30 p.m. Visitors can enjoy local craft beer and food trucks while listening to artists including Jose Sanchez, Tom’s Kitchen Table, and County Line.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, classic car lovers can attend the 25th anniversary Heart of the City Cruise-In, one of the state's largest car shows. The event will feature hundreds of classic and modern cars, food, and live music featuring local 1960’s rock bands Ohio Express, Music Explosion, and The Cyrkle, along with Journey cover band Departure. Visitors wishing to participate in the car show will need to register at 9 a.m. for $15.

Mansfield Lahm Airport Day will also take place on Aug. 27 to celebrate Mansfield Lahm's airport. Starting at 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., the airport will offer Young Eagles Flights for free to attendees age 8-13 and a special area will introduce all that’s new at the airport. Flights are limited and early registration is encouraged. A Food Truck Rally will be available and children will be able to enjoy special KidsZone bounce houses and interactive inflatables staffed by Civil Air Patrol members. 

The weekend event officially kicks off on Aug. 26, but aviation enthusiasts can witness the rare and historic WWII planes of the Air Power History Tour fly into the airport's main terminal ramp on Aug. 24. The tour is available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 28 with access $20 for adults, $10 for youths age 11-17 and free for kids age 10 and under. Tickets can be found at airpowersquadron.org/mansfield-ohio. Visitors can also have an opportunity to ride in one of five historic 1930s-1940s aircraft. Ride schedules and booking is available online at airpowersquadron.org/book.
