MOUNT VERNON – Ruth A. Walker, 81, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday morning, July 15, 2022, at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Mount Vernon. She born on Aug. 11, 1940, in Mansfield to the late Louie and Earla Riley.

Ruth was a member of the First Church of Nazarene, where she sang in the choir. She was an administrative assistant for Swetlic Chiropractic and a volunteer at Knox Community Hospital for 7 years. Ruth enjoyed all things involving her family and friends. Some of Ruth’s hobbies included decorating her home, all-day shopping trips and attending sports events of her children and grandchildren. Ruth was always up for a good, ol' fashioned cookout with hot dogs and of course her amazing baked beans. We will miss you dearly Ruth / Mom / MaMa.  

Ruth is survived by her children, Constance (Dr. James) Edick of Gambier and Dr. James (Beckie) Swetlic of Mount Vernon; two grand-children, Summer Swetlic (Kyle Zitron) and Dylan Swetlic (Kristin Spauling); one great-grandchild, JacksonZitron; step-children Valerie (Bill) Bihary of Pensacola, FL, Cynthia Miller of Mansfield, Rande Beheler of Fredericktown and Christopher Walker of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dean (Theresa) Lamneck of Mansfield.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Reese Walker, on Aug. 28, 2011.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. Ruth will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jerry, in Bellville Cemetery.
