MARTINSBURG – Alta Maxine Davis, 84, of Martinsburg passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Johnstown Pointe Nursing Home.

She was born on Dec. 19, 1937, in Fallsburg and was the daughter to the late John W. and Alta Chloe (Deenis) Frost.

Alta was a member of the Martinsburg Methodist Church. She retired from North Fork Schools, where she was a bus driver for 30 years. Alta loved to cook and bake and give to so many that were so dear to her. Also, an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

She is survived by her son, Randall Davis of New Albany; a brother, John W. Frost Jr. of Columbus; sister, Charlene Weaver of Mount Vernon, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her close friends, Cindy Tuttle, Lynn Mooney, Larry and Kathy McGinnis, Harry Farley, Rae Jean Brown and Saloman Swartzentruper.

Alta was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gerald “Red” Davis; brothers and sisters, Willard Deenis, Raymond Frost, Paul Frost, LeDonis Frost, Leontine Melick, Gladys Cochenour, Shirley Shoemaker, Donald Frost and Mary Jane Phillips; and half brothers and sisters, Clyde Frost, Goldie Ridenbaugh, Everett Frost, Russell Frost, Grover Frost, Mary Wright, Emmagene Jackson and Earl Van Winkle.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 24, from 5-8 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon. Where funeral services will be held on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Martinsburg Activity Center or the American Heart Association in Alta’s memory.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Bella Care Hospice and Johnstown Pointe Nursing Home for all the care and compassion shown to Alta over the last couple months.
