MVNU Community Music School announces summer youth band program

MOUNT VERNON – The MVNU Community Music School announced the return of its summer youth band program. The program is intended for students who have completed the beginning year of band through eighth grade.    

Summer youth band will meet at Mount Vernon Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m., beginning Tuesday, June 14. The program will culminate with a final concert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, in the Mount Vernon High School Theater. 

Rehearsals each week will include fundamentals, sectional time and full band instruction. Directors for the program are Dr. John Packard of MVNU, Julia Haller of Mount Vernon City Schools and Heather Faulkner of Highland Local Schools.   

There is a $60 fee to participate, and all participants will receive a youth band T-shirt.
