MOUNT VERNON – Larry L. Vilfer, 80, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 3, 1941, in Mount Vernon, the son of Russell and Mary (Litt) Vilfer. Larry was a 1960 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. 

Larry worked 13 years for Diamond Bathurst Inc., before retiring after 17 years with MOTA, now known as Knox Area Transit. Larry enjoyed target shooting and woodworking, but most important was the quality time he spent with his family. He was a member of the Overcomers Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Teressa (Sisk) Vilfer, whom he married on Aug. 9; a son, Timothy Vilfer of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Kyle Lybarger and Sierra Vilfer; a great-grandchild, Lena Poppel; and two brothers, Donald Vilfer of Mount Vernon and Kevin Vilfer of Columbus.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Hamman.

The family will observe a private funeral service with burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Larry L. Vilfer.
