MOUNT VERNON – George M. Teal, 76, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 3, 1945, in Logan, the son of John and Evelyn (Martin) Teal. George retired after 35-plus years at Kelsey Hayes and TRW in Mount Vernon, and he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

George was an avid NASCAR fan and always cheered for his two favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. George was also a fan of dirt go cart racing and had several carts himself. He enjoyed photography and taking pictures in nature. He was also proud of his vegetable and flower gardens, loved painting and drawing and enjoyed the companionship he had with his dogs. Later in life, George purchased a 1965 C10 Chevy truck and liked attending car shows.

He is survived by his children; Michael (Tracy) Teal of Mount Vernon and Jennifer Legros of Mount Vernon; a grandson, William Teal; and a sister, Loretta Frost of Mount Vernon.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Teal; a son, Billie Teal; and a brother, Roger Dale Teal.

Friends may call on Monday, April 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
