MOUNT VERNON – Buffy Lee Heindel, 42, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, at her home. She was born on Dec. 13, 1979, in Lima to the late Carol (Burson) Heindel.
Buffy graduated from Highland School in Sparta. She enjoyed participating in 4-H and Special Olympics. With Buffy’s medical condition, she is in many medical journals for being the first child to her have her heart removed from her body, operated on, and then put back all while being kept alive on a heart and lung machine at Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Buffy loved collecting movies and was know for being a huge prankster.
Buffy is survived by her sisters, Gabby Jean, Danie LuAnn and Miracle Lee Heindel of Mount Vernon; and her special cousins, Cassie (Curtis) Lee of Bellville, Bridget Smith, Savannah Vilfer, Athena Vilfer, Zachary Barnes, Kymberly Barnes and Alexia Floyd, all of Mount Vernon, and Jasmine Smith, Paislyn McGuire and Paxton Smith, all of Conway, Arkansas.
In addition to her mother, Buffy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harold and Roberta Burson; and her aunt, Cathy Burson.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in Amity Cemetery. Per the family’s request there will not be a gathering after the committal service for a meal.
