Neil Simon’s 1965 Broadway classic “The Odd Couple” opens Feb. 4 at the Alcove Dinner Theater and runs through March 5.

"The Odd Couple" is directed by Bruce Jacklin with major support from MTVarts. It is considered one of Simon's best plays. It has been described as one of the best American comedies, according to a press release from The Alcove.

“The idea to stage ‘The Odd Couple’ came pretty naturally to us,” Jacklin said in the release.

That's because the two leads at the Alcove – Ian Fraser Ernsberger playing Felix Ungar and Aaron Moreland playing Oscar Madison – are also real-life friends.

“Aaron and Ian spend a lot of time together, both on and off the stage," Jacklin said. "They have been good friends for many years."

Aaron, with a “laid back” approach to life, contrasts Ian’s frustration for “getting it right the first time."

"The Odd Couple" involves two bachelors in one apartment with plenty of antics. Felix is a news writer who was tossed out by his wife and moves in with his friend Oscar, a sportswriter.

Felix is a neat-freak and tends to be neurotic; Oscar leans messy but he's happy. While the characters clash, it always makes for a hilarious time full of banter, jokes and shenanigans.

The show also includes Caroline Pletcher as Gwendolyn, Abigail Tayse as Cecily, Mason Mickley as Murray, Chuck Rogers as Speed, Thor Collard as Roy and Glenn Hissong as Vinnie.

"The Odd Couple" will have performances every Friday and Saturday evening through March 5, with social hour starting at 6:30 p.m. There is one matinee showing on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m., and tickets for that performance can be purchased at the door.

The ticket price is included with dinner, and guests can choose between salmon or prime rib for $55 per person, chicken for $50 or a vegetarian dish for $45. There will be a cash bar, and alcoholic beverages are not included with these prices. Make reservations (required) at alcoverestaurant.com.
