FREDERICKTOWN – Betty L. Melick, 89, of Fredericktown went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
She was born on June 24, 1932, in Mount Vernon to the late Harold and Louise (Casper) Bond Sr. Betty was employed and retired in 1982 from IGA in Human Resources after 19 years of service. She was a member of the Colonial City Women of the Moose Chapter #100, her Euchre Club and the First Christian Church in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed crafting calendars, painting, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. But most of all, she loved the time she spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Ronald Melick; her son, Glenn (Kelly Samson) Long Jr; her daughters, Patricia (Mike) Burch, Marlene (Bill) Phillips, Lee Anne (Tim) Dodderer and Leslie Melick; 12 grandchildren, Shelly (Ryan) Wenger, Bryan Burch, Corey (Jen) Burch, Ricky Booker, Jordan (Katie) Spearman, Chelsea (Damon) Fulk, Cassie (Jordan) Grennell, Andrew Long, Adriana (Kyle) Cockrell, Bree’Ana Melick, Daijah Harrison and Alexis Richards; 20 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Harold (Marcia) Bond Jr.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her previous husband, Glenn Long Sr; her daughter, Rae Jeanne Booker; and her sister, Beverly Dunlap.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at the Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. A service will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will take place in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice.
