MOUNT VERNON – Loretta Jean Priest, 91, of Mount Vernon died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Country Club Rehabilitation in Mount Vernon.

Loretta was born April 26, 1930, in DuBois, Pa., to Eugene and Florence (Lenkerd) Kriner.

Loretta graduated from Mount Vernon Academy in 1948.  

She married Glenn “Pete” Priest after graduation in 1948. Glenn passed away Sept. 8, 1985.

For most of her life, Loretta was a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mother. Later, she worked and retired from Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She was an active member of the Mount Vernon Seventh Day Adventist Church. Loretta loved gardening, cooking and spending time with friends and family. She was only a stranger once.

Loretta will be deeply missed by her children, Linda Hutchison, David (Donna) Priest, Donald Priest, Patricia Casto, John Priest and Connie (Mark) Mott; grandchildren, Jason (Darcy) Ewers, David (Carma) Priest Jr., Chad (Katherine) Priest, Erica (Steven) Holt, Quentin (Emily) Platt, D’Artagnan Casto, Rosie (Nadia) Casto, John (Lisa) Priest Jr., Brian (Sarah) Priest, Sophi Priest and Baylee Priest; many great-grandchildren; sister Joan Weseman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband; brother James Kriner; and sister Norma Vail.
