MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Toys for Tots has extended its deadline for donations of toys or cash until Wednesday, Dec. 8, local campaign coordinator Philip Lohmeyer told the Mount Vernon News.

The official drop-off locations are the Mount Vernon Fire Department at 200 W. Gambier St. and the Central Ohio Joint Fire District at 5138 Columbus Road in Centerburg. Please bring your donations to these drop-off points and not to the distributing agencies.

Cash donations can also be made online at the Toys for Tots website (knox-county-oh.toysfortots.org).

Marine Toys for Tots began nationwide in 1947, and every year since then collects toys for needy families at Christmastime. Locally, Interchurch of Knox County and Knox County Salvation Army are the primary nonprofit recipients. Toys for Tots supplies toys for Interchurches of Centerburg, Danville-Howard and Mount Vernon.

You DO NOT have to be a client of those organizations in order to receive Toys for Tots toys. If you have any questions or have been told you are ineligible, please contact Philip Lohmeyer 740-627-0670.

“We count on the public to make donations of toys and monetary contributions to help us supply Christmas to over a thousand youngsters who would have no or little Christmas without your help,” the TFT website says. “Let's together make 2021 a Christmas to remember!”
