FREDERICKTOWN – Raymond M. Smith, 84, of Fredericktown passed away on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 5, 1937, in Shirley, West Virginia, the son of Lee and Clara (George) Smith. 

Raymond retired in 2002 from the American National Can Company and was a member of Amvets Post #95. While young, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and, most recently, he liked to challenge his mind and complete word searches and crosswords. Raymond was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather who liked nothing more than attending his children and grandchildren’s activities. 

He is survived by his children, Diane Rine of Fredericktown and David Lee (Tammy) Smith of Navarre; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Ray Smith, Ralph Smith, Robert Smith and Roy Smith; and five sisters, Effie Spencer, Esta Smith, Edna Smith, Edith Mayes and Evelyn Davis.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, OH 43019, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
