Accident July 28 closes roads near Coshocton Avenue; expected to continue past 4 p.m.

UPDATE: Coshocton Avenue is now open at Sychar Road, Verndale Drive and Vernonview Drrive. The southbound turn lane on Vernonview Drive and Teryl Drive at Marita Dr are also open. Eastwood Drive is still closed.

An accident Wednesday afternoon, July 28, caused the City Street Department to close several intersections:

• Coshocton Avenue and Sychar Road is closed for eastbound traffic.
• Coshocton Avenue and Vernon View Drive is closed to westbound traffic.
• Coshocton Avenue and Verndale Drive are closed in all directions.
• The southbound turn lane on Vernon View Drive onto Coshocton Avenue is closed.
• Eastwood Drive is closed.
• Teryl and Marita Drive intersection is closed.

Detours

• Sychar Road to Beech Street from eastbound traffic on Coshocton Avenue from the downtown area.
• Vernon View to Beech Street from westbound traffic on Coshocton Avenue from the Howard area.

According to Lt. Travis Tharp of the Mount Vernon Police Department, the closures could last well beyond 4 p.m.
