The Ohio State University Extension - Knox County held an open house and ribbon cutting July 14 for the new Ramser 4-H Activity Center building at 700 Perimeter Drive in Mount Vernon.

Andrea Rees, extension educator, 4-H Youth Development, told the Mount Vernon News that the new, 7,500-square-foot facility was designed for Knox County 4-H clubs to utilize for their meetings and for Knox County 4-H and OSU Extension events.

"The building is also being used by our community partners for meeting space as well," she added.

The building occupies land donated to the Knox County 4-H Planning Committee by Mark Ramser. It was funded by more than 170 businesses, individuals and families from the community.

"Some of those donations were financial, and others provided in-kind services," Rees specified.

Bruce Gregg, Jim Hughes, Don Hawk, Paul Helser, and Mark Bennett (not present) were instrumental in getting us this building from the fundraising to construction, Rees added. Others pictured are Knox County Chamber of Commerce representatives, including Executive Director Carol Grubaugh.
