MOUNT VERNON – Dogwood Blossoms Chorus, the local chapter of Sweet Adelines International, held their annual installation banquet recently at Der Dutchman restaurant.

The chorus enjoyed a buffet meal followed by the installation of officers. The theme for the evening was bees and the way they work together for the good of the hive.

Director Donna Dudgeon presided over the installation of the new officers and board for 2021–2022. Those officers are Cindy Brown, president; Barb Bower, vice-president; Debi Kuhn, secretary; and Karen Burgess, treasurer. Other board members for the year are Barb Blaschke, Kathy Butcher, Sherry Patterson and Bonnie Rutherford. Retiring board member Michele Coscia was recognized for her years of service.

Outgoing president of the chorus Barb Bower and chorus director Donna Dudgeon received gifts of appreciation for their leadership over the past year.

President Cindy Brown presented Barb Blaschke with a longevity pin for five years of membership in Dogwood Blossoms Chorus.

Gail Piper was named Sweet Adeline of the Year for her contributions to the chorus over the past year. She was presented with a dogwood-themed music box by the chorus president, Cindy Brown.

Many members revealed their secret sisters for the past year.

Dogwood Blossoms Chorus was chartered in 1981 as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a global organization of nearly 21,000 women who sing four-part harmony music in many genres. The chorus is a diverse group of women from Knox County and the surrounding areas.

Women and girls of all ages who love to sing are invited to visit a rehearsal on most Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Road in Mount Vernon.
