MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Department of Job & Family Services continues to recognize community partners and individuals who assist in reaching the agency’s mission of making the lives of children and families better, especially during the last year.
May’s Community Impact Award goes to Lori Jones-Perkins, executive director, and her staff at New Directions Domestic Abuse Shelter and Rape Crisis Center.
“Lori and her staff at New Directions provide invaluable resources, education, prevention and advocacy within our community,” said Scott Boone, Knox County JFS assistant director. “Family violence is a very real challenge in Knox County, and Lori leads a team that creates multiple opportunities for families to achieve safety, as well as for survivors of all ages to recover and heal from their exposure to traumatic events.”
