COLUMBUS – Mount Vernon artist Sebastian Coleman’s blown glass vessel, Ancestor Series—Glass Raku, is featured in the “Best of 2020 • 2021” Ohio Designer Craftsmen’s annual juried members exhibition, on view through July 11 at the Ohio Craft Museum.

Coleman has been involved with glass for most of his life, learning the art of glassblowing alongside his father. After working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry for over 10 years, he returned to the family studio after his father’s death in 2015. Using recycled glass, Coleman creates work that focuses on color, texture, iridescence and abstraction.

The “Best of 2020 • 2021” showcases contemporary fine craft by 50 artists. Juror Susan Ewing, the Maxine and Stuart Frankel Director of Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, selected 79 works in clay, glass, metal, wood, fiber and mixed media from over 100 entries. Sixteen artists received awards of excellence.

After closing at the museum on July 11, the exhibition travels to the Mansfield Art Center, where it opens Aug. 15.
