MOUNT VERNON – Richard Edward Hand, 74, of Mount Vernon, died peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Centerburg Pointe Care Center.
Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired teacher. He was also a former docent for the Metropolitan Parks of Columbus. He enjoyed spelunking and reptiles of all types. A very studious person, Richard enjoyed research and learning his entire life.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Maria Hand of Columbus; grandson, John Carlo; and aunt, Margaret Klinedinst of Galena.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Connie S. Hand in 2004; his parents, James E. and Ruth E. (Oden) Hand; a son, Eric Christopher Hand; and daughter, Heather Hand.
A private funeral service and interment with military honors will take place at Union Cemetery in Columbus.
