Her efforts led the Danville softball team to a 10-0 win in six innings over rival East Knox in Knox Morrow Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, May 5, in Howard.
Wine struck out nine batters over six innings, and Emily Weckesser had two hits including a two-run home run for the Blue Devils.
Hannah McCoy and Cami Bailey accounted for the Bulldogs’ only hits.
Fredericktown 6, East Knox 5
Alyssa Perkins’ two run single gave host Fredericktown a walk-off win against East Knox in KMAC play on Thursday, May 6.
The Freddies got two-out hits by Taylor Overholt and Lainey Partington on back-to-back pitches. Sydney Sansom drove in Overholt with a double on the second pitch to cut the deficit to one, setting up Perkins’ game-winner.
Overholt finished with two hits and three runs, and Perkins drove in three runs on two hits to pace Fredericktown.
Shanda Melick hit a two-run double in the top half of the seventh to put the Bulldogs in front.
Natalie Smith, Melick and Bailey each had two hits to lead East Knox. Smith scored twice and Bailey had three RBIs.
Mount Vernon 12, Bishop Watterson 2 (6)
Brooke Radermacher hit two of Mount Vernon’s five home runs to help the host Yellow Jackets roll to a 12-2 win in six innings over Watterson in non-league play on Thursday, May 6.
Radermacher hit a three-run shot in the fifth inning to give Mount Vernon a 6-2 lead. The Jackets hit four solo home runs in the sixth inning to clinch the win. Mackenzie Rine and Makaylia Schlosser went back to back to open the frame, Radermacher then hit a solo shot, followed by a Maddy Burdette homer to seal the game.
Emma Jones struck out 10 in a complete game to earn the win.
Highland 11, Northmor 0 (6)
Stevie Asher was stellar once again with eight strikeouts in a two-hit shutout to lead host Highland to an 11-0 win in six innings over Northmor in KMAC play on Thursday, May 6, in Sparta.
Savannah Fitzpatrick led the Fighting Scots on offense with two home runs and a triple, driving in five and scoring three runs.
Utica falls twice in LCL play
Madyson Steele drove in two runs and Renae Cunningham hit a solo home run to lead host Heath to a 5-1 win over Utica in Licking County League play on Thursday, May 6.
It was Utica’s second LCL loss in as many days. Kayleigh Crowe had two hits, including a game-tying single in the sixth inning to knot the score at 1, but Kayla Siddell’s walk-off single an inning later gave host Licking Heights a 2-1 win over Utica on Wednesday, May 5, in Pataskala.
Sydney Chapman struck out 15 batters to lead Heath in the win. Leah Swetnam reached base twice with a walk and an RBI single in the seventh inning to account for Utica’s only run.
Cass Foudy had two hits and scored a run for Utica against Licking Heights; and Ryleigh Lees was solid in the circle, allowing two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings but suffered the loss.
Siddell led the Hornets with three hits and struck out 11 batters in a complete game in the circle.
Buckeye Valley 15, Centerburg 3 (5)
Courtney Benecke and Emily Huston each went 3-for-3 to lead Buckeye Valley over host Centerburg 15-3 in non-league play on Thursday, May 6.
Huston scored twice and had two RBIs, and Lilly Irvine homered and added two RBIs and a run to pace the Barons, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and scored all their runs by the third.
Savannah Dehart had two hits, a run and an RBI to lead the Trojans.
