MOUNT VERNON – F. Elinor Bartlett, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the Country Club Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon. She was born on Nov. 30, 1928, in Knox County to the late Ralph W. and Grace C. (Phillips) Brokaw.

Elinor was a 1946 graduate of Fredericktown High School and graduated in 1987 from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology in Westerville, earning her manicurist license. She was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women’s Club, the North Liberty Garden Club, Crawlers to Scholars CCL and the Country Culture Club. She was also a 4–H advisor for many years. She was a member of the Fredericktown School Board, where she served as president of the board for eight years.

Elinor worked at Kenyon College in the president’s office during the time that Paul Newman and Johnathon Winters attended Kenyon. She also worked at Paul’s Flowers, the Welcome Wagon, American Greetings and for 15 years as a licensed nail technician with Bunny in her salon. Elinor enjoyed sewing, making floral arrangements, flower gardening and entertaining friends on her patio.

She is survived by her children, F. Greg (Diane) Bartlett and Bunny (Sam) Vance, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Joshua (Karen) Bartlett, Justin Bartlett and Jillian Vance; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Cole Bartlett; brother, Ned (Judy) Brokaw of Fredericktown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elinor was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank Bartlett in 2015; and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and William Leibrock.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
