MOUNT VERNON – Georgianna Ogden, 70, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Newark. She was born on Sept. 29, 1950, in Mount Vernon to Clarence and Roma (Neal) McFadden.
During her childhood, Georgianna lived throughout Knox and Holmes counties but spent the happiest years living with her aunt and uncle, Helen and Kenneth Ridenbaugh, and their family in Killbuck. There, she was lovingly embraced not only by them but the town and the extended Ridenbaugh family. She went on to graduate from West Holmes High School in 1969.
Georgianna met her husband James when he arrived with the Ohio National Guard to aid after the flood of '69. They married on February 21, 1970. She moved to the Ogden family dairy farm in Wayne County. She was a homemaker, raising four children and hosting many farm field trips for Chester Elementary. The family relocated to Knox County in 1991 where they continued to farm until Jim's death in 2011.
While her children were young, Georgianna was very active with school PTA, 4–H, Wayne County dairy promoters, the National Holstein Association and Farm Bureau. After moving to Knox County, she continued to be active at the county and state levels with Farm Bureau and Pythian Sisters. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Warsaw and later Nellie. In the last few years, she particularly enjoyed meeting with friends at the local Wendy's several times a week. The family particularly wishes to thank the staff at Wendy's Coshocton Avenue for their kindness to her.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Ogden of Alpharetta, Georgia, Richard (Lisa) Ogden of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Matthew Ogden of Mount Vernon; daughter, Elizabeth Ogden of Mount Vernon; brothers, Mike Pence of Millersburg and Ray McFadden of Howard; cousin Lorretta (Jan) Scheibe of Killbuck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Georgianna was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; stepmother, Martha (Grubaugh) Nugent; foster parents, Helen and Kenneth Ridenbaugh; and cousin, Butch Ridenbaugh.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16, at the Fischer Funeral Home, 403 High St. in Danville. Rev. Dairel Kaiser will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery on Grove Church Road near Gambier. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. COVID-19 protocols will be observed and normal seating will be reduced.
