MOUNT VERNON – Robert R. ‘Bob’ Reasoner, 92, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living in Mount Vernon.

Born in Logan to the late Lawrence and Ruth Reasoner, Bob moved with his family to Mount Vernon, spending his childhood and adult working life there. He moved to Englewood, Florida, after retiring from AMG Industries and returned to Brookdale Mount Vernon in late 2019.

Bob served his community and nation as a member of the Ohio National Guard. His unit was called to help control the Ohio State Prison riot in 1952. He was company commander in Mount Vernon when the local unit was called to assist or rescue individuals during the Mount Vernon flood of 1959. He left the National Guard as a colonel after more than 32 years of service. Bob was also the third of three Reasoners (his father and brother Tom were the first two) to be the voice of Yellow Jacket football on the public address system during home games for over 50 years, until the mid ’90s.

He is survived by his sons, Mark (Kristin) and Eric (Terry); his daughter, Renee (Tom); grandchildren, Brian, Rob, Nathan, Brandon, Katy and Alex; five great-grandchildren; and former daughters-in-law, Myrlyn and Karla.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; first wife and children’s mother, Yvonne (‘Bonnie’); second wife, Margaret (‘Peggy’); brothers, Chuck (Kathy), Tom (Betty) and Don (Grace); and grandson, Jon.

The family wishes to thank the staff and management of Brookdale Senior Living for their care and kindness, and the nurses and others with Brookdale Hospice for making Bob as comfortable and pain free as possible.

Interment will be in Sarasota National (Military) Cemetery at a date to be determined. There will be no services.

Individuals wishing to make a contribution in Bob’s name are asked to donate to a charity of their choice.
