SANDUSKY – Mary Margaret Midos, 97, of Sandusky and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at the Ohio Veterans Home. She was born on March 29, 1923, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of William Milton and Allie (Belcher) Midos.
Mary proudly served in the United States Navy and worked 25 years at Weyerhaeuser in Mount Vernon before retiring in 1987.
Mary was a member of The Hall at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Mansfield; the Knox County Joint Veterans Council; American Legion Post #136, where she served as past commander; and Amvets Post #95. She was also an active volunteer for the Knox County Humane Society. Mary will be remembered by many for her pies and cookies that she baked.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Jacquet of Mount Vernon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nellie Mae Midos; two sisters, Sandra Braddock and Helen Kinnard; and a stepsister, Betty Ballman.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050; where a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Pastor Mark Wildermuth will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
