WALHONDING – William Wayne Wells Sr., 79, died on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born on April 19, 1941, in Newcomerstown to Wayne and Harvella (Houston) Wells.
Bill was employed at the former Shaw Barton/JII Co. in Coshocton and was a carpenter. He was a member of the Coshocton Nazarene Church and a former member of the Warsaw Emergency Squad.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, William W. Wells Jr. of Walhonding and Jeffrey D. Wells of Glenmont; grandchildren, Emily Rager, Luke Wells, Ashley Barnette and Dakota McCartney Wells; a great-grandchild, Landon Wells; three sisters, Ruth Steffe and Becky Wells of Newark, and Mabeth Penrod of Milwaukee; and four brothers, Robert Wells of Chillicothe, Richard Wells of Newark, Mark Wells of Kankakee, Illinois, and Harvey Wells of Dalton, Texas.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie C. (Lint) Wells, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1962 (she died on July 11, 2020). He was also preceded in death by his father, Wayne Wells; a daughter, Jennifer Dawn Wells; and brothers, David and Chuck Wells.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 29, at the Coshocton Nazarene Church; 1058 Orange St., Coshocton, OH 43812; with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Darling Run Cemetery at Warsaw. Visitation was on Sunday, March 28, from 2–4 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
