MVNU’s Music Department offers virtual concerts in March

MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Music Department will be offering two virtual concerts in March.

Music Department Ensembles Concert 

The presentation of the first ensembles concert of the spring semester will be available online only and broadcast via mvnu.tv at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 7.  

The concert will feature MVNU Collegians Chorale, directed by Dr. Bob Tocheff; Goliards Chamber Choir, directed by Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett; Treble Singers Women’s Choir, directed by Mrs. Sabina Anderson; Symphonic Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. John Packard; Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Isaac Winland; and Flute Choir, directed by Mrs. Jenny Packard.

Music Scholarship Recital 

Thirteen select student performers from the 2020-21 music scholarship recipients will be in recital at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, on mvnu.tv

This recital will feature several instrumental and vocal performances and will include a variety of musical styles. 

Student performers include: 

  • Voice — Alexus Burke, Madison Court, Chloe Davis, Laura Beth Fraley, Carol Heininger and Bailey Snyder
  • Alto sax — Justin Brown and Taryn King  
  • Percussion — Adam Schreiner  
  • Flute — Lauren Schwab and Elizabeth Sharrock 
  • Trumpet — Caleb Syler
  • Piano — Hannah Wagner
