Alenah Boeshart and Kylee Hess scored 14 points apiece to lead the Danville girls basketball team to a decisive 53-23 win over Northside Christian in the first round of the Division IV district tournament on Feb. 17.
Boeshart did much of her damage in the second quarter with eight points as the fourth-seeded Blue Devils (13-8) built a 32-6 lead at the break.
Hess knocked down a pair of 3s and scored eight points in the third quarter to lead Danville.
Brooklyn Hess added 10 points for the Devils, who will host 18th-seeded Shekinah Christian in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Taylor Ross scored eight points to lead the 14th-seeded Lions.
Gahanna Lincoln 57, Mount Vernon 25
Bella Ward scored 11 of her 20 points in the first quarter to help host Gahanna build a 17-7 lead after one quarter. The sixth-seeded Lions (14-5) cruised from there to a 57-25 victory in the first round of the Division I district tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Laila Marshall added 11 points as the Lions pushed the lead to 39-11 at the break.
Lexi Shaffer scored eight points for the 33rd-seeded Yellow Jackets (5-12).
Gahanna will host 28th-seeded Thomas Worthington in the second round on Saturday.
Mount Gilead 49, Bishop Ready 20
Madilyn Elson scored seven points, and Kaitlyn Pfeifer knocked down two 3s and scored six points to help host and fifth-seed Mount Gilead get off to a 13-7 lead.
MG slowed in the second quarter, but put 29 points on the board in the second half to roll to a 49-20 win in the first round of the Division III district tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Holly Gompf scored all of her game-best 17 points after the first quarter to lead MG (15-7), which will host 17th-seeded Grandview Heights in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Claire Larger led the 15th-seeded Silver Knights (2-8) with seven points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Hudson Rohler scored 16 points and Beau Bridges added 14 points to lead Mount Vernon to a 52-47 win at Lexington in Ohio Cardinal Conference play on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Blake Meyer had nine points and Dayne Burgess eight points for the Yellow Jackets (7-12, 6-6), who won their last three games — all in conference — to finish at .500.
Baden Forup had 14 points and Hudson Moore added 11 points to lead the Minutemen (4-11, 0-10).
