MOUNT VERNON — Gordon Griffin, 90, born July 2, 1930, in Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2021, after battling COVID-19 and a stroke.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Grace Griffin, and his wife Lois Elizabeth (Betty) (Ruch) Griffin. 

He is survived by his sister, Marlene Hedges, daughter Karen (John) Feltman, son Rodger (Paula) Griffin, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one nephew and his companion, Shirley Ross.

Gordon served in the Army during the Korean War. After his return to Mount Vernon, he worked at Cooper Bessemer before establishing Griffin Insurance Agency in 1972. He was an avid Bluegrass fan and talented banjo player. Gordon was a member of the Hill SDA church.

Viewing services will be held at Lasater Funeral Homes in Mount Vernon, Wednesday, Feb 10, from 4–6 pm. Services will also be held there on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 1 pm. Burial in Mound View Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
