HILLIARD – Olive Louise Barb Gardiner, 92, born on Oct. 1, 1928, to Russell and Olive (Bonner) Barb, in Norfolk, Virginia, died on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021.
Louise graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1946. She attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, majoring in piano. She received a Master of Strategy degree from the Kansas City Osteopathic Student Wives Association.
Louise was a member of the following organizations: Auxiliary to the American Osteopathic Association, Auxiliary to the Ohio Osteopathic Association, Auxiliary to the 6th District Academy of Osteopathy. Volunteer and all Guilds of Doctor’s Hospital; National Needlecraft Guild, Embroidery Guild of America and American Needlepoint Guild. She founded Louise’s Needlework in Somerset, Ohio, in 1984; and in Dublin, Ohio, in 1987. Lacers of Columbus, Ohio; Knit Wits; founding member formed from church circle at North Broadway Methodist Church in 1960; Heart of Ohio Tole Painting; Central Ohio China Painting Club in Lancaster; Mansfield China Painting Club; International Porcelain Art and Teachers; World of China Painters Club; P.E.O. Chapter D.E. (32 years, Columbus); P.E.O. Chapter FF, Mount Vernon; member of North Broadway United Methodist Church and Northwest United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Martha McGlone of Marengo, John B. Gardiner Jr. of Albany and Susan Sexton of Hilliard; six grandchildren, Sara (Chris) Bowsher of Gahanna, Michelle Warthman of Marengo, John B. Gardiner III of Hillsboro, Jason Conrad (Candace) Gardiner of Albany, Sasha Sexton of Marengo and Sean Sexton of Waldo; and seven great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dr. John B. Gardiner D.O.; and sister, Patti (Dan) Miles of Dublin, Ohio.
