MOUNT VERNON – Mary Louise Coffing peacefully went to be with Jesus on Jan. 5, 2021. She was born on March 14, 1937, to the late Bernard and Monna (Porter) McMillan. We are confident that when she stood before God she did not have a single bit of talent left and could say she used everything He gave her.

Mary was a member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Green Valley United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She worked at Schlairets before going on to obtain a nursing degree, and was then employed by Ohio Eastern Star and later Dr. Blackburn’s office. Lastly, she worked at Foster’s Pharmacy before retiring.

Mary volunteered at The Knox County Agricultural Museum and was an active member within her church and the community.

She loved spending time in the kitchen baking and cooking, was an avid seamstress and enjoyed a good game of euchre with family and friends. Nothing was more important to Mary than spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was one of the most selfless people alive, always putting others before herself.

Mary was loved by many, touched more lives than she will ever know and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Spearman; two daughters, Teresa (Bob) Woosley and Doreen (Trent) Baldwin; stepdaughter, Pam Fry; stepsons, Wesley Coffing, Jeffery (Paula) Coffing, Barth (Robyn) Coffing, Greg (Yovet) Coffing and Barry (Sandy) Coffing; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Jim) Overly, Barbra Spearman and Barb Spearman; grandchildren, Curtis (Tara) Miller, Keely Snyder, Tyler Baldwin, Anne (Jordan) Purvis, Joshua Badwin, Emma Fry, Evan (Erica) Fry, Joel (Melissa) Coffing, Travis Coffing, Bryce (Melissa) Coffing, Bryan (Mia) Coffing, Brett (Marie) Coffing, Zach (Elizabeth) Coffing, Stacia Coffing, Asa (Betsy) Ulrey, Ty Ulrey and Amy Ulrey; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary was proceeded in death by her first husband, James R. Spearman; second husband, Arthur J. Coffing; brother, Rodney McMillan; sister, Neva (Richard) Moreland; brothers-in-law, Jack Spearman, Don Spearman and Jerry (Carolyn) Spearman; and a stepdaughter, Marilyn Ulrey.

The family will have a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Knox County Animal Shelter, 285 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050; or The Winter Sanctuary, P.O. Box 421, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
