MOUNT VERNON – Rose Linda Ernest, 80, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at Brookdale in Mount Vernon, where she was lovingly cared for. She was born on Aug. 7, 1940, in Circleville, to the late William and Grathel (Moore) Moore.

Rose was born a farmer’s daughter and left this world a farmer’s wife; but most of all, she is a child of the King. She lived her life as a wonderful example of Proverbs 31. She loved her family and worked diligently to instill good values, a good work ethic and how to live joyfully. Rose enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and her sense of fun and adventure lives on through them. She also enjoyed traveling and spending many winters in Florida. Rose was a faithful member of the Brandon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Evan (Chris) Ernest of Utica, Eddie (Sherry) Ernest II of Mount Vernon, Amy (Chuck) Rowley of Mount Vernon and Leslie Buxton of Sunbury; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy (Bill) Liggett of Utica; brothers, Billy Moore of Canal Winchester and Rick (Mary Jo) Moore of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie C. Ernest Sr., on March 24, 2008.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road in Mount Vernon.

A funeral service honoring the life of Rose will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, at the Brandon Baptist Church, 13513 Sycamore Road in Brandon, with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be observed. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery near Mount Vernon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral service will be live on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
