Join New Directions' art therapy Zoom group! Art therapy is much like counseling but uses art as a means for communication, expression and promoting mental health. Trauma, mental illness and overall stress can make it difficult for people to stay in the present and find a sense of calm. In this group, breathing exercises and art directives will be used to bring attention to the present moment, cope with stress and express emotions. No talent or purchase is necessary to join. Art therapy is all about what you get out of the experience; so if you do not see yourself as an artist, don’t worry! New Directions will provide bags of supplies for participants that include a small sketch book, oil pastels, colored pencils and any other supplies you will need. The group will be open to a maximum of ten adult survivors. Visit New Directions "Events" page on Facebook @newdirectionsshelteroh to learn more.
